Laura

Laura has worked in the infancy and early child development industry for more than 30 years, first in the Silicon Valley region of California and now in the Pacific Northwest. She is a mom pf three young men. holds a Bachelor of Science in Human Development, and has Montessori and Waldorf experience as well as a strong foundation in attachment theory, bonding, and infant mental health.

At the renowned UC Davis Center for Child and Family Studies, a course in observing infant and caregiver interactions set the foundation for Laura's understanding and interpreting of infant cues in early communication.Shortly after earning her degree, she embarked on her greatest adventure: becoming a mom. She was able to take her son with her while she worked as a nanny, then she taught preschool, gave birth to another son, opened a licensed small family home daycare, gave birth to her Thord son, then devoted several years to their growth and development. Laura actively volunteered her teaching skills to their pre and elementary schools and as her three boys grew, she felt a pull to focus on supporting, guiding, and educating new Parents.

In 2016, she began her venture as Silicon Valley Baby Coach, supporting families as an infant and toddler development specialist. It was during the pandemic that Laura encountered the term "Newborn Care Specialist" online. in 2021, she quickly completed her NCS trainings, relocated to the Seattle region, and re-branded as Pacific Northwest Baby Coach. Since then, she has completed several courses that complement her NCS trainings, enabling her to provide well-rounded support and education to families as they navigate early parenthood.

Laura has truly found her passion, earning certifications as a Newborn Care Specialist (NCSA & CACHE), Postpartum Doula, Lactation Educator, Educator of Infant Massage, and Child Passenger Safety Technician. She has attended births and supported families with twins, newborns with silent reflux, newborns with food allergies, families who have had NICU stays, several preemies as well as one micro-preemie, and is a PAILAdvocate.

In her downtime, you will find her working in her organic garden, volunteering for a local shelter, hiking the trails of the Pacific Northwest, snowboarding the slopes with her boys, or trying to play her piano.

As a board member, Laura looks forward to continuing to support and educate parents as well as support the NCS industry as it grows and blossoms.
