What do Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen’s sons already have in common?
August 24, 2020
Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen first met on a failed blind date in the 90’s, but what started as an awkward encounter turned into a great friendship, they share vacations, they tour their show AC2 together and they both became single Dad’s via surrogacy in the last 18 months. But one extra thing they have in common that you might not be aware of is that they both hired the same Newborn Care Specialist to help them in the first months of being a father. Unfortunately they are still referring to Theresa, who Andy Cohen’s long time friend Kelly Ripa helped him hire, as a baby nurse but hey, baby steps, it’s a start but we still have work to do on raising awareness of the correct terminology!
In May this year Andy Cohen announced on his radio Andy show that his baby nurse was leaving him and Ben to help his longtime friend Anderson now that he had become a father too. “We had long planned this transition, but I certainly didn’t expect it to happen during a quarantine, of course,” he said at the time. “So we had to really handle this hand-over from one home to the next very carefully, but we did and she is now with Anderson and I know she’s going to get Wyatt on a great sleep schedule just like she got Ben.”
Anderson Cooper said on Howard Stern’s show, “She’s actually a baby nurse, her speciality is babies” when asked by Howard Stern about the support he was receiving. He went on to say “she’s a baby whisperer, she really knows babies, she was with Andy Cohen for a year which is a long time for a baby nurse and now she’s helping me, she’s agreed to live in and stay for a year!
On the subject of being able to become a single Dad Anderson said “As a gay kid, I never thought it would be possible to have a child, and I’m grateful for all those who have paved the way, and for the doctors and nurses and everyone involved in my son’s birth, most of all, I am grateful to a remarkable surrogate who carried Wyatt, and watched over him lovingly, and tenderly, and gave birth to him, It is an extraordinary blessing – what she, and all surrogates give to families who can’t have children.”
As becoming a Father via surrogacy becomes more attainable for single men and same sex couples the cost is still very high ($90,000-$150,000) Therefore these really are extremely wanted and longed for children and these new Dads deserve the best of help we can offer them when they bring their babies home. The NCSA has been in contact with several Surrogacy Agencies to ensure these new Dad’s know help is available and understand the importance of hiring highly qualified and experienced newborn care specialists
